StepRead is built for one job: helping you read English books. This policy explains what happens to your data — the short version is that we collect nothing.
01 We do not collect your personal data
StepRead has no account system and no login. It does not ask for your name, email, phone number or location, and it contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics. We cannot identify you, because we never receive anything that could.
02 Your books and reading data stay on your device
The books you import, your reading progress, your word lists and your app settings are stored locally on your device. They never leave it — we have no server that stores them.
03 Dictionary websites
When you look up a word, StepRead may open a dictionary website inside the app. Those requests go directly from your device to the dictionary website; our servers are not involved. Their own privacy policies apply to their services.
04 AI explanations
The "Ask AI" feature sends the word, its sentence and your interface language to the AI provider you choose (such as ChatGPT), using the API key you configure yourself. Requests go directly from your device to that provider. Please review that provider’s privacy policy for details.
05 App download
Downloading StepRead from the App Store, Google Play or this website may be subject to the store’s own terms and data practices, which are governed by their privacy policies.
06 Children
StepRead is rated 13+ and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
07 Changes to this policy
If this policy ever needs to change, we will update this page and the date at the top.
